Experience

I earned my degree in mathematics from the University of Maryland. I graduated from there in 2000. Years later, I returned to school to earn my degree in systems engineering. While I was an undergraduate, I began tutoring my peers. This led to me to become passionate about education and assisting others. I tutored other students in my freshman and sophomore math classes. I have continued my tutoring work throughout the years.For a few years, I taught math to high school and middle school age ranges. Working with a large number of students was much different than one-on-one tutoring. I prefer working individually with students, learning how best to teach them based on their preferences and abilities. I first work to repair their thinking of the basic math concepts, and then build on new concepts. I allow them to show me what they already know so they gain confidence in their abilities.While I typically taught basic math classes, I also offer more difficult courses. I assist students with calculus, differential equations, geometry, trigonometry, and SAT math. I also provide help with test prep.When I am not teaching, I spend my time on the beach as often as possible. I also enjoy yoga.
